From Humble Beginnings To Worldwide Recognition
St. Patrick’s story begins in Roman Britain, the land in which he was born. With a passion for converting people to Christianity, the now saint converted most of Ireland to Christianity. Even though there is so little information about him in history books, there are still people who’ve been able to delve into a past that has influenced so much of the present. According to Saint Patrick’s Day Parade, the saint’s real name is believed to be Maewyn Succat. As for the name with which we all know him as “Patrick,” it was given to him once he became a priest.
Many centuries ago, pirates ruled the ocean, and Patrick was kidnapped and sold so that he could tend sheep on a mountain. One night, Patrick dreamed that God was telling him to get on a ship, leave Ireland, and embark towards Britain. As time passed, and on the new land, Patrick had another dream. In it, he heard God telling him that he had to assist the Irish people. Therefore, he went back and taught Christianity to many people in Ireland.
Even though the date on which St. Patrick died isn’t certain, there is no doubt that he did so much for people. This is why he is recognized all throughout the world.
