The Trailer for 'The Substance,' Demi Moore's Body Horror Drama, Is Pure Ick

We heard a lot about Demi Moore and The Substance after its premiere at Cannes, where it received a 13-minute standing ovation. It comes from French writer/director Coralie Fargeat, with whom I am not particularly familiar, and in addition to Demi Moore, it stars Margaret Qualley and Dennis Quaid.

I’ll just say that it looks interesting, although truly the grossest thing in the trailer is the close-up of the eating guy’s mouth, which is some ASMR horror all on its own. (I’ve just looked up ASMR horror on YouTube to see if such a thing exists, and now my brain has crunched in on itself.)

Here’s the trailer. This is going to be a very popular movie with film critics (I’m not sure if anyone else will watch it).

The Substance hits theaters in September.
