Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was renewed for season two earlier this month after its debut season went viral and launched a thousand Halloween costumes. The new season is coming spring 2025, according to MomTok…

…And its leader, Taylor Frankie Paul, confirmed filming on her stories…
When we left the Mormon moms of Utah, things were rough. Taylor’s rocky relationship with Dakota Mortensen was not getting better, even after she gave birth to their son (wait, you mean adding babies to the mix doesn’t fix everything?!). Season one villain Whitney Leavitt was pregnant and feuding with the rest of the women while her husband tucked his tail between his legs and danced in the background of her TikToks. Jennifer Affleck, group newcomer and fan favorite, was contemplating a move to New York with her train wreck of a husband who definitely wanted to move there for med school and not to isolate her from her friends and family…and don’t ask me about the rest of them because I can’t even be bothered to remember their names. They’re probably curling their hair and drinking soda.
At least for Taylor, it doesn’t look like things have gotten much better. She sparked rumors of a breakup with Dakota in September when she posted this TikTok…
@taylorfrankiepaul Plz no. We don’t want her back.

…And then these…

Taylor is the unofficial leader of MomTok because she was the one who broke the news about “soft swinging” amongst her Mormon friend group, and that scandal is what made people interested enough for there to be a TV show in the first place. Most of us went into season one expecting her to be a hatable villain, but what we found instead was a woman in distress. Already a single mom to two young children, we watched her struggle with substance abuse and mental health amidst the chaos of an emotionally abusive relationship. When that resulted in a pregnancy, we watched her recede into herself, clearly unsure about raising a child with Dakota. Now, she seems to be barely hanging on.
The other tragic figure of the season was Jennifer Affleck, whose husband Zac earned the ire of the internet when he threw a tantrum because Jen so much as looked at a topless man in a Chippendales. Her comment section has been flooded with the same pleas the MomTok ladies inundated her with: “DUMP HIM!!” But, alas, Jen is a brainwashed good Mormon girl and they have two children and stuff, so they’re still together, living in New York while he finishes med school.

Jen was absolutely the fan favorite, much to the chagrin of the rest of the extension sisters, I’m sure. And if these comments on her recent post from the set of DWTS can be believed, it looks like her star is continuing to rise.

Meanwhile, Whitney Leavitt, the villain, a.k.a. the most interesting one, finally gave birth to the baby she found out she was pregnant with at the end of season one, confusing the many readers of People Magazine who I’m sure had never heard of her.

I scrolled through the comments as long as I could justify and didn’t see anything from the Moms, but Whitney is still following them all and vice versa, except for Jessi Ngatikaura and Mikayla Matthews, who I’m not sure ever exchanged more than a few words with Whitney in season one, anyway. Can’t wait to watch them ice each other out on season two!
