There’s a type of video on TikTok/Instagram/etc that is remarkably simple, yet supremely effective at what it does. It’s the ‘nostalgic sounds’ video, every single one of which I end up watching when the algorithm decides to feed it to me. I can’t help it. Instantly and effortlessly releasing a shot of pain-numbing nostalgia hormones, this is mindless comfort content at its best/worst. As it happens, I opened up my TikTok just now and literally had one waiting for me as an example:
