'SNL' Books Its Final Hosts of 2024

There are three SNL episodes left in 2024, beginning with this Saturday night’s show, which — as previously announced — will feature Paul Mescal as host and the man with the biggest song of the year (and second biggest song of the decade), Shaboozy (and despite having the biggest song of the year, the CMAs treated him like a novelty act).

The following week, December 14th, will feature Chris Rock. He’ll be hosting the show for the fourth time, after appearing as a cast member for three seasons (90-93). He’ll have musical guest Gracie Abrams, who is very popular in my household. Of all the Taylor Swift knockoffs, she’s the best. When trying to convince the kids to watch Felicity, it also helped to be able to say that Gracie’s dad, J.J., created it. (Yes, to kids of a certain age, J.J. Abrams is best known as Gracie’s dad).

Side note: Gracie Abrams is reportedly dating Paul Mescal, and they’ll be appearing in back-to-back weeks.

Finally, the December 21st episode will feature host Martin Short (who will almost certainly bring along Steve Martin as a cameo). Though Martin Short was a cast member for one season and has cameoed 11 times, this episode will officially put him in the 5-Timers Club. He’ll have musical guest Hozier to close out the season. Hozier appeared as a musical guest once before, in a 2014 episode hosted by Bill Hader.

FYI, in case you missed it, the 50th Anniversary Show will be three hours and will air on NBC and Peacock on Sunday, February 16, which is the week after the Super Bowl and two weeks before the Oscars.
