The team behind the third Now You See Me movie really missed the mark with the title,
Now You See Me: Now You Don’t. You’ll never be as big as The Fast & Furious franchise with that sort of thinking. It doesn’t even have the number 3 in it masquerading as a letter.
Now You See Me: Now You Don’t stars Justice Smith (I Saw The TV Glow) Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, Morgan Freeman, Rosamund Pike, Daniel Radcliffe, Mark Ruffalo, and Ariana Greenblatt (Love and Monsters)
It opens in theaters on November 14th.
Netflix’s upcoming limited series, Sirens, looks like it’s borrowing heavily from The Stepford Wives and dowsing the whole thing in Lily Pulitzer. I’m getting more of a menacing, supernatural vibe than an abusing technology for misogyny vibe, though.
Milly Alcock (House of The Dragon), Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy (Drop), and Kevin Bacon star in Sirens. It begins streaming on May 22nd.
Ari Aster’s Eddington feels like an honest reflection of our times, but is it the movie we need to watch right now? Because we’re still living through it. Maybe it will be an interesting cultural artifact scholars can look back on and say, “This wasn’t what was actually happening, was it?” And all the old people will just shake their heads and say, “Kid, you’ve got no idea.”
Eddington stars Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Luke Grimes, Deirdre O’Connell, Micheal Ward, Austin Butler, and Emma Stone. It premieres in theaters on July 18th.
This week’s lagniappe is a Rosamund Pike bookend. She and Matthew Rhys will star in Hallow Road, an anxiety-inducing horror movie that opens in British cinemas on May 16th. We’re still waiting for the US release date.
