'Heart Eyes' Is Clearly this Valentine's Day Must-See Horror Movie

Josh Ruben is a working actor/director, who has been around for years, whose biggest hit was probably Scare Me, a Shudder film that he did with Aya Cash in 2020. He’s getting a big opportunity next month with Heart Eyes, which looks like an old-school slasher flick with some major 20s appeal.

It comes from writers Michael Kennedy and Christopher Landon, who are responsible for screenplays for Freaky and Happy Death Day and several of the Paranormal Activity movies (Landon is also son to Michael), and Phillip Murphy. The gimmick in Heart Eyes is that it centers on a serial killer who targets couples and mistakes co-workers — played by Olivia Holt (Cruel Summer) and Mason Gooding (Cuba’s kid, who has been in the last couple of Scream films) — as a couple. Devon Sawa and Jordana Brewster also star to bring in the millennials.

The trailer is an absolute blast. This is going to be Valentine’s Day gold.

Heart Eyes hits theaters on February 7th.
