I'm not sure what kids are watching nowadays, but I do know that they need to be blessed with Blue's Clues!
In the midst of just about every '90s show making a comeback, Nickelodeon has revealed that it will be reviving, Blue's Clues, one of its most popular kids' show of the nineties. The cable network has ordered 20 new episodes that will most probably air on Nick Jr.
Although the show ran from 1996 to 2006, Nickelodeon continued to air past episodes. “It’s actually never gone away,” said Cyma Zarghami, president of Viacom’s Nickelodeon Group, in an interview with Variety. “The format of the show works pretty well, and I don’t think they are going to mess with it that much.”
The format was fun, colorful, and super educational. Blue's Clues featured Blue (and adorable blue-spotted dog) and TV host Steve Burns, who took preschoolers (and their parents) on a scavenger hunt every day. Every episode was different and schooled kids on puzzle-solving, literacy, and other learning skills.
The show was so engaging that it even became Nickelodeon's highest-rated show for preschoolers. If kids were obsessed with the show back then, today's kids will most certainly be obsessed also. It was hosted by Burns from 1996 to 2002 and by Donovan Patton until 2006.
The revival, however, will count with a fresh face. “We are going to pass the torch,” said Santomero on searching for a new host. “What’s going to be more important than who that person is is that they can really connect to the home viewers.”
So, millennial parents (or not), who's excited about this comeback?
