It's a sad fact that animals often get hurt the most when natural disasters happen. They are often not allowed or there's no room for them in the "human" shelters, hotels might not allow pets.
However, it's even tougher for shelter animals, since they don't have the support of loving owners to take them and often shelter staff can't save all of them.
Meet Tony Alsup
A 51 year old trucker from Tennessee has become a modern day Noah. When Hurricane Florence was about to hit, he decided to support a cause he cares deeply about - rescuing animals. So he bought a school bus - yes, a typical yellow school bus - and started driving to shelters all around the affected region, gathering up animals and bringing them to shelters further away from the hurricane. And he's still at it! You can follow his journey on Facebook.
How to help him?
You can donate to the cause right here!
What's more, he's done this before - traveling to Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico during hurricanes to save pets. He's a true hero!
