We all want that perfect body, but we don't have the bandwidth for all that time at the gym. The good news is that there are ways we can keep our figures optimal without having to go running for miles or spending tons of money on a personal trainer. We can simply do these nine things (and take the lazy way out!).
1. Drink a glass of wine before bed
It seems strange, but yes, wine can actually help you lose weight. Wine has a compound called resveratrol, which not only aids in weight loss but also combats signs of aging.
2. Laugh more
Did you know that there is a study published by the International Journal of Obesity that ensures that laughing can accelerate metabolism? You know that feeling you get when you're laughing so hard and your stomach hurts? Yep, you're burning calories! In fact, 10 minutes of laughing can help you burn 170 calories. Imagine that!
3. Drink black coffee
If you drink black coffee, instead of adding sugar and milk, you'll save about 100 calories a day, since coffee alone has no calories. On the other hand, coffee also has a good amount of caffeine in it, which will help you stay energized and active throughout the entire day. That's an explosive combination!
#6 Wear jeans when you can
Jeans are nice and snug, and so wearing them often reminds you of how well you're doing on your weight loss journey. Can't get those skinny jeans on? Girl, it might be time to go for a 30-minute walk and cut out the soda.
4. Eat a spoonful of peanut butter
Eating a spoonful of peanut butter before heading out to a party or a night of drinking can help you feel full and keep you from eating a bunch of late-night drunk munchies. Add in some dancing and you'll be burning calories all night.
5. Drink green tea
Green tea, which has no calories, can help you maintain your weight, according to a study conducted in 2011. If you're not a big coffee fan, opt for a cup of hot green tea (or three!) throughout the day. It's also great for keeping your metabolism going all day.
6. Keep drinking water
Water is a very important element when it comes to weight loss. A study published in the International Journal of Obesity states that those who drink one or two glasses of water before each meal consume between 70 and 90 calories less in each meal.
8. Eat dinner early
It's not necessarily what you eat, but the time that you eat it. In fact, another study published in the International Journal on Obesity suggests that those who eat their main meal before 3 pm lose weight more easily. If you eat early enough to squeeze in a run or some time to walk your dogs, you'll be burning more calories. It makes total sense!
9. Eat at the table without watching TV
TVs and smart phones are serious distractions when it comes to being mindful of how much we eat. A study conducted in 2013 by Harvard Medical School found that these distractions are not the best allies when it comes to preserving a healthy weight. When we are distracted, we tend to eat more. Think about when you're snacking in front of the TV. You don't realize how many chips you're eating!
These are only small steps to a big change, but the real key to weight loss is learning to have lifestyle changes, not going through fad diets or living at the gym! Small changes can help you live a happier, healthier life.
